Not really. By the book, you are allowed to register either in the state
you claim as a legal residence or the state you're stationed in at the time.
The license plate police don't normally chase you down to enforce this, but
if you're stopped and you're wearing a registration from one state, holding
a license in a second, and claiming a current address in a third, this can
get sticky. Don't ask how I know...!
