Course designs

Last week there was a discussion on course design going on and I was
confused as to what a 'gated' course was.  Is a gated course just one
that doesn't have chalk marks to help guide you?  Anyone who was at
Meridian like to chime in as to what they thought of the John Thomas
designs?  I don't remember hearing any negative comments.  Sat was more
the handling course with the slaloms after the slow 180's while Sun was
more hp related with the long straights after them.  There were some
nice risk/reward offset maneuvers depending on how aggressive you wanted
to be.  Kinda looked like...

Hope that doesn't look too much like a set of football shoulder pads but
that was the basic shape.  Lot's of folks went through Sundays v-neck
too fast and hit cones.

P.S.  Congrats to Katie Kelly for the open class trophy in BS.
Apparently the trip to the Clinique counter didn't hurt her driving
any.  Unfortunately, I missed the photo op of the flowered Miata.  :)
