I use the Tekonsha Commander, which is one step above the Voyager.  Has
a touch-sensitive manual actuator pad, which is much easier to use in
those scary moments.  Also has a bank of LEDs to indicate how strongly
it's applying the trailer's brakes.  Otherwise it's very much like the
Voyager.  It was rated the best in some towing magazine back in '93 when
I bought it.

As for installing it, they are pretty easy, you just want a circuit
breaker on the input side, and the annoying part is running the wire
from the brake controller back to your trailer electrical connector.
