Pat,

No spare starter. However, Essex or Transatlantic probably can sell you a
nice small "super starter" style. Problem is that you may need some
customizing to actually install it.

By the way, if the starter bracket casting is "stock" and it breaks, try to
find or fab a better custom bracket. The stock castings break. Maybe the
trick ones that Jay Ivey and Neil Porter sell for Swifts will work. As I
recall, the setup is close to the same (i.e. Van Diemen copied Swift in
many ways). In fact, I'll bet that Neil Porter stocks an appropriate
starter. Be sure to count the ring gear teeth since it effects the drive
pinion tooth count (I think). Van Diemen used a lot of ring gear teeth, but
who knows what ring gear is on it now!

If you are test driving, you may need to do the "2 manpower" approach:-)
