Allan, unfortunately not! The shaft of the distributor is keyed, but not the
housing. You can rotate the housing while the shaft is inserted into its
counterpart in the engine. By turning the housing you'll destroy the timing
and you'll have to adjust it again.

Yes it is. The distributor has a keyed drive that only allows it to be
installed one way.
