Based on a discussion ongoing on the jyturbo list, I have put together a
simple schematic of how I "think" I would like to cool my charge air from
the turbos. The pix is on my web site.

http://www.teknett.com/pwp/drmayf/h20inj.jpg

The size will be based on the methods I outlined in one of the charge air
cooling articles elsewhere in the web site. Ice water will be used: this
willassure that the coldest water will be injected into the air stream after
the turbo discharge but before the throttle body. I only plan on 2 large
injectors for simplicity. A hobbs type pressure switch will energize the
injector when boost attains a set level of say 8 psig (I know that is low
pressure but this is only talking for now). A fuel injection pump, from a
gas tank? will be used to supply the pressure and flow. A regulator, preset
to around 40 psig is used to condition the pump outlet water. The regulator
bypasses unused water to an FMU. The FMU is boost referenced, as is the
regulator (shoot, forgot to include that pressure signal to the reg). The
FMU will up the pressure to the injector depending on boost pressure. Boost
pressure signal is taken from the intake manifold. When the throttle is
released, the boost pressure signal goes negative (ie vacuum) and the hobbs
switch opens, killing injector flow. The remainder of the system bypasses
water to the tank until I switch it all off.

Now, where is this in need of simplification? Do I need the FMU? Although I
kinda like the idea of varying the flow rate based on the boost pressure
(and hence charge air temp) but I am not smnart enough to fiddle with
intercepting the driver signals from the ecm and opening and closing the
injector in sync with the fuel system. I like simple!

Comments? Fantasy? Only in my mind? Which components should I actuall use? I
have a set of old stock fuel rails that I could cut up and use including the
regulator. I have no pump or tank or FMU or injector(s) yet. I would like to
have injectors which have the hose barb on top what are they from? Are they
big enough? yada, yada, yada...

any thoughts on this on or off list will be appreciated.

mayf, the red necked ignorant desert rat in a VERY HOT pahrump (110 earlier,
prolly 114 by now).
