Space Saver Spare Tires

Sometime later this year, I might be taking a Rootesmobile to a local paint
shop for a complete paint job.  The shop is 20 miles from my home.  I want the
rims painted seperately, but painted the same color as the car and without
tires on them.  I was thinking of buying 4 spacesaver spare tires from a
junkyard for a Ford product 4 lug wheel and putting them on the car to get it
to the paintshop.  

What do these spare wheel/tires cost these days?

Anybody ever tried anything like that?
