Generator vs Alternator

I had my armature on the stock generator replaced today and the bill is
$80. It should be as good as new. The electrician told me if I decided
not to take the generator, the other option would be to convert to an
alternator which I have considered for two years. It means converting to
neg ground which does not bother me except for the radio. Confronted
with this decision, what would the list do? Thanks, Brent
