I believe the Bently was wrecked in the book "Moonraker". That was also
where the Berreta .25 automatic failed him and in the next book Dr. No, he
had it replaced with the Walther PPK. He had a Government model 1911 that
was on the seat of the car when the "accident" happened, but that is a
pistol that is sometimes hard to conceal.
Obviously someone thought the movie "Casino Royale" was not best forgotten
because they made 2 sequels to it. The first was "Austin Powers:
International Man of Mystery", and the second was "The Spy Who Shagged Me".
If anyone has a videotape copy of the Original 1950's made for TV "Casino
Royale", I would like to see it. I know it comes out on TBS every now and
then, but I don't get cable! Lou

Since movies were being discussed, I talked about the Alpine and the Bentley
in the first movie. Casino Royale was indeed the first book and, if my
memory
is correct, Bond drove a 1934 Bentley-I believe it is wrecked toward the end
of the book.
The "Casino Royale" movie is best fogotten. Even the "Casino Royale" TV
show
of the early fifties was better (the first time James Bond appeared on any
sort of screen)!!!

Bond being played by David Niven (there were 40 other James Bonds), drove a
car that would appeared to be the correct Bently as discribed in the first
