Jarrid,
Years ago, I noticed the same thing when I used an alloy sump on a
vertical engine. Also, I was not impressed with the tiny baffle in the alloy
pan: it is a small steel plate. The pans are very porous, and they should be
sealed before they are installed: mine wept oil continually, right thru the
casting. I installed mine as-is, and I had an oil pressure loss regularly,
especially when the oil was cold (right after startup) on right turns.
