Hi Gang,

Quite a while ago I threw up a posting about my clutch acting up when it got
warmed up. It was hard to get the car into gear and shifting was rough. I
tried moving the slave cylinder push rod up 1 hole on the release lever and
that had improved things marginally, for a little while. I finally got
around to dealing with it and thought I'd report. The holes in the master
cylinder push rod were very elongated and the seals in both cylinders (DOT
5) were pretty soft. So.diagnosis: elongated holes in the pushrod were
shortening the throw of the release lever. All worked well until the
cylinders got warm and the seals got mushy at which point either or both of
the master and slave began to bypass. Cure: weld some undersized washers
onto the pushrod and bore them out to fit a new pin. The hole in the pedal
was OK. Rebuild both cylinders. Life is good.
