I rebuilt my fuel pump about 2 weeks ago with a TRF kit. Since then
I've noticed a strong gas smell in the garage when the doors are
closed, so I checked it out. When I touch the bottom of the pump
(around the tips of the screws that secure the two halves together) I
can feel a slight dampness caused by slowly leaking gas. My guess is
that it is coming out of through the screw holes. So here is my
question. Should I have used gasket sealer around the edge of the new
diaphragm? When I took the pump apart it didn't appear to have any
sealant, so I didn't use any when putting it back together. I've
tried re-tightening the screws, but that doesn't seem to work. Would
you suggest pulling out each screw and covering it with gasket sealer
before putting them back in?
