re-installing carbs

I'm installing rebuilt carbs and hope to get a little info regarding the
gaskets.  I had to use gasket cleaner to remove remnants of the old
gaskets off the manifold, but it didn't appear there was any sealer
involved.  The Haynes manual doesn't mention use of sealer when
refitting.  Should I put the gaskets on dry, or does someone have
another recommendation?  Thanks.
