John:
1. Sandblasting.
2. Always a good idea. But I didn't bother. Call me reckless.
3. Always if you plan to paint them. Depends on the paint, but
chip resistance is important so a urethane primer sealer would be good.
4. 2 pack urethane? I didn't paint mine, instead I had them
powder coated.
Don't paint them using a rattle can. The paint is simply not
tough enough and it will chip in nothing flat.

Subject: Steel Wheel Restoration
Hi All-
A few questions regarding steel wheel restoration:
1.) What is the best way to strip these wheels?
2.) The Moss catalog has a scary section on these wheels suggesting they
are
prone to cracking and should be magni-fluxed. Opinions?
3.) Once stripped, should these be primed? What primer? Other
treatments?
4.) What paint should be applied?
Thanks,
John Cyg.
