While the engine revs will go up if the O/D disengages, I should think the
18% change in engine revs wouldn't be fatal. Unless you're doing 120 MPH
when the O/D kicks out. If this is the case then "you're on your own".

But at 70 your revs will only jump to about 3500 which will absolutely not
kill your motor.
