James:
The first 2 digits represent the percentage overdrive that the
unit delivers.
The TR J-Types delivered a 25% OD factor (e.g. for every revolution on
the input shaft, the output shaft rotates 1.25 revolutions).
TR A-Type ODs delivered a 22% overdrive
TR J-Type ODs delivered a 25% overdrive
Volvo J-Types delivered a 27% or 28% overdrive
Others ????

Subject: OD Identification
Ok folks,
The question came up again. Does anyone have a chart of the ID numbers
that
identify the different Laycock Jtype OD units. I was told 22 was an ID
for
the Triumph TR series, 25 was for Triumph-non TR, and the other were
either
Volvo or some other application. Does anyone have a source for the
correct
info. What is a 27? These two numbers represent the first two numbers
on
the Laycock ID serial number plate.
Thanks in advance,
James Henningsen
