hmmmmmmm Moss Roadster etc...parts

I just picked up me TR6 after a long stay while being partially restored. 
While it runs great I am shocked to see the poor quality in parts. The "chrome" 
headlight rings, outside rear view mirros, trim and such are all pitted and 
rusted. Anybody experience the same?
