Sill retainer strip

Does anyone know how the sill panel retainer strip (750163) attaches to the
outer sill panel? My car didn't have them (or they were rusted beyond
recognition) when I took my sill off. They are listed in the official parts
catalogue, but it doesn't show how it should be welded to the sill/floor
panel/inner sill.
