I just went through this. Place the glass upright on a wooden bench.
Place a drift on the upper lip of the metal channel (do not allow it to
contact the glass) and tap down gently but firmly with a hammer on the
drift. You will need to move the drift back and forth along the channel, but
it will pop right off.
Replacing the channel on the glass was more of a challenge. Crease
the new glazing strip lengthwise, and then place it over the edge of the
glass. Spray it generously with soapy water or Windex, and spray the inside
edges of the channel as well. Place the channel on top of the glazing strip,
then tap it gently but firmly over the glazing strip using a hammer.

I'm replacing the old window regulators & waist trim on my '69 TR6. I have
some new window glazing to install but I can't figure out how to remove the
bottom slide from the glass. Or, I could just clean up the bottom slide on
the window and call it good, The old glazing is still intact, just 34 years
old.
Any suggestions?
