 I would think, the metal would do like a BB through a windshield. The entry
wound being smaller than the exit(?). You know how BB's shot  through glass
look. It looks as if shinny metal is visible around the edge, indicating the
point of impact was from the axle side?

I suppose a jack could do that, but the entire inside of the trailing arm is
"scoured" like something was really turning inside the darn thing.  In the
photo you can probably see the shinny part inside, indicating something was
turning in there!
