Well, racers would like to do this. The theory is that any power that is
transmitted to the mounts is power lost to the wheels. Look at drag racers
- they like to use _solid_ mounts.

The limiting factor here, unfortunately, is the rules bodies. I'm not sure
what classes allow modified mounts in road racing, but in autocross the
stock and street prepared classes do not allow alternate mounts. I
actually don't know the rule for prepared (even though that's where I run)
and in Mod, anything goes.

Perhaps Mike wants to run in IT and they allow poly mounts.
