Mike---All the valves on the six can be adjusted by turning over the
engine thru two revolutions of the crank shaft. There are many ways to
successfully accomplish the task. One way is to start with the timing
mark on the front pulley at "0" or TDC. This will tell you that either
#1 intake and exhaust valves are closed, or #6 intake and exhaust valves
are closed, and can now be checked/adjusted. (You can also verify which
cylinder is on its compression stroke (valves closed) by removing the
ignition cap and seeing which spark plug [wire] the rotor is pointing
to.)
Without going into a series on which ones to do next, if you mark the
top of the adjustment screws with a wiping of chalk AFTER each valve is
checked/ adjusted, you'll be sure to have at least checked them all.
There are a lot of short-cuts in checking all valves with the least
amount of "jogging" the engine. Best for now to be sure that none have
been missed. The order in which they are checked isn't too important.
If a valve still appears to be noisy, even when set to .010 it's
possible that the rocker pad has a (stem) groove worn in it, and the
clearance, or lash, is wider than the feeler gauge shows.
