Also a good idea to check the conditon of the needle and jet in each
carb. The needle rides up and down through the jet, and wears on the
jet over time. I recently had my carbs rebuilt professionally (Gary
Martin, did a great job!), and he replaced the jets and needles. He
said my jets were in terrible condition, the holes had been elongated
and he'd never seen a set so bad. Which would explain why my car had
been running so rich and making such BAD gas mileage! Bad jets/needles
will obviously make it tough to pass emissions testing.
