Dear Listers,
going down the road yesterday, a leisurely change from 1st into 2nd, yielded
a sudden
drop in power and a lot of clatter from the engine area. Fearing the worst
and then
feeling I have nothing left to lose, I limped the 6 home (only a couple of
hundred yards)
and pulled off the valve cover. To my surprise, all I found was a bent
pushrod no longer
connecting with its rocker and a small phillips head screw laying on the
head. The
rocker this pushrod used to move was siezed on the shaft - everything else
was fine
however. Should I be looking at replacing the shaft, or is it likely the
seized rocker has
not damaged the shaft significantly? If I do replace the shaft, what can I
do differently so
this does not happen again, but most importantly, "What happened this
time?!!?"

Thanks and Regards
Geoff Parker
