Mitch----I've never tried Chilton's way, so I can't verify that ALL
VALVES  can or can't be done with only one complete turning of the
crank. While TDC only happens every 120 degree of crankshaft rotation
(in a six) other valves are also closed, and can be adjusted at the same
time. If you can twist the pushrod, then get a .010 feeler into the stem
and rocker, the valve is closed. You can also mark each rocker after
adjusting or checking the lash. (I use white chalk.) Just know that not
doing it by following the firing order there is an element of risk. Most
would say that since it's a job not needing done that often, do it the
way you feel you got 'em all, and right.
