I believe the problem is there is no resonance chamber for
the speakers. Kinda lot kids who throw really biggie
speakers on the back window shelf - sound like crap.
You need to have each speaker in its own enclosure - Best
Buy et al have boxes for speaker mounting. Dunno if they
will fit your location in a TR, never looked. You could make
an enclosure (box form one speaker to the other, sort of a
tube type thing that should work. You will loose some of the
separation on the stereo but will gain some bottom end.
