I have had the same problem with my fuel gauge and in my case it was simply
that the float in the tank had some how gotten stuck. I used a coat hanger
to feel around in the tank and while the car was running the fuel gauge
started to read again. As for your other dilemma, I have not yet had that
problem. As I said "Not Yet".
