I agree with Randal but I also use impact guns to remove pulleys from generators and water pumps. I have an impact ratchet handle which is great for long threads and very handy when performing tasks

If they are not using a torque limiter to limit torque to manufacturer specs, then you need to either find another shop, or sue them. Overtorquing the lug nuts on a modern car is a serious problem,
