I'm in Scotland, so I don't know so much about prices in the US, but I certainly wouldn't pay anything like $3000 for an MG with an engine I hadn't heard running, or that needs immediate welding. Con

Not true. I pulled the spare tire out of the last car I bought and discovered a $20 bill taped to the inside. I also found that the factory spare had never been on the ground, not bad for a 1980 car.
