early TR3A did not have it originally. The reason for the front mounted duct is *required* because the wide mouth TR3s let too much air around the radiator to be effective. I have a pusher electric

Odds are very good that the Stant cap was not holding pressure. They had an incorrect application listing in their catalog for a long time. You might have your radiator guy check out the cap as well
