My DirecTivo has a coax out that I actually use to send a signal to a TV upstairs so I can watch live or recorded shows in another room... it's there to send a signal to the TV if you only have coax

I can think of no reason why you shouldn't be able to do that. If you can see it, you should be able to record it with your VCR. I used to do this frequently with my TiVo units, until I started just

The hacks for Tivos have gotten a little better, but are still risky as you could lose the 'image' or operating system on the box, and render it useless. However you can buy 'modded' Series1/2 Tivos

If you are using RF, use channel 4 instead of channel 3. The higher the channel the better the image. Peter J. Thomas
