don't know how they got them off. I seem to remember that the problem with the removal tool was that it was too small - it didn't fit over the locking nut enough. also, the nut was the wrong style -

no, but I've never had an unlocked wheel stolen either. probably should have been a sign that I didn't need the locks.

Sorry, don't recall the brand and I junked the van last year. The outside of the nut was completely smooth (and chromed), the end of it had a funny-shaped 3-lobe indentation that the "key" fit into.

I bought a used car once that came with locking wheel nuts but without the key. To get it licensed I had to get an Ontario Safety Check, which means they had to remove the wheels to check the brakes.
