Simplest to eliminate/diagnose would be the thermostat so that's where I'd start... feeling the lower radiator hose which will stay coolish/warm until the t-stat opens, then get hot pretty quickly. I

Thanks, the only reason I mentioned the heater was that there is an extra length for the coolant to travel. Back in the early 60s, when I had a well-used powder-blue TR3, I would turn on the heat to
