The DeLorean doors are actually held up by torsion bars that are similar (but larger) to the trunk lid bars on older cars. The cylinders are only there as an assist. Marvin

I do not know the specifics, but is there not a large difference in the weight of the doors? I know that mine feel like they weigh a ton when trying to get out using the safety latch. I would imagine
