The odds are the piece is still there but has fallen down inside the channel and you just can't see it. Unfortunately, the only way to access or replace the piece is to cut the channel. Stephen I. Ea

The part you are referring to is actually part of the birdcage, You may be ale to gat a new one in between the birdcage and the frame, The is only about 1/2-3/4 of inch there so it is tight, There is

I have a similar problem. Before cutting you may want to see if you can locate the piece with something like a pen magnet through the holes for the bolts. I was able to get the bolt into one of the
