I don't know much about welding alum., but I don't think you can use the same gas for both. A CO2/Argon Mix is generally recommended for mile steel welding...I can't remember which gas is for aluminu

We weld a lot using 75%/25% Argon and CO2. The type of cover gas has a lot to do with how much splatter you get. I only weld steel so I don't know what to tell you on aluminum. You would be best aski
