<< As far as I can see, this leaves the cable from the battery to the solenoid and the starter itself. Assuming that the battery cable is good, is it possible to get these symptoms from worn starter?

Connect a voltmeter from the hot post on the battery (not the clamp) to the hot post on the starter solenoid, crank the engine (coil disconnected) and measure the voltage. Do the same with the voltme
