Can someone give me a simple clear explanation of 3phase electricity? Also, on the same subject - I have a 1hp 3P motor on a machine. I bought a phase converter(non-rotary) to run it from standard 23

It's easier with a graph but bear with me. Imagine single phase AC as a sine wave, centered around 0 volts. It climbs up to a maximum, then returns to 0 volts and drops to its most negative. The pea

Bottom line: What is the benefit of Three phase? Can you get more "cluck for your buck" with three phase? i.e. is it more cost effective to run a one hp motor on standard 220 or 3P 208?? ____________

Three phase motors are cheaper, lighter, more efficient, easily reversed, have high starting torque, and will give you fresher breath and whiter teeth. Unfortunately three phase power can be hard or

I believe you can get more power for the same size wire from 3 phase, but I have tried to work it out mathmatically. Another advantage is less pulsing; single phase (and I include 220vac in as single
