I understand that you also "tinker" in electronics, just think about trying to hold that laser at the right spot while tuning. Then there is the problem of adjusting while watching all of those ligh

Hmm, good point. But it doesn't seem like that would be any harder than holding a timing light while turning a dizzy. True enough, but while I wouldn't claim I have perfect pitch, I can hear changes

I have used one. I find a traditional type more convenient for engine tuning. These do come in handy though for small engines and other applications where the usual hookup sources are not available.
