My '71 GT6 Tach is toast. Has anyone put in other Tachs than the stock one? Over time I was going to re-do my dash layout and if there is another product out there that can be used instead, I'll cha

I may be wrong, but ISTR the GT6 used an odd ratio to drive the tach. Even if not, your best bet will probably be one of the many aftermarket electronic tachs and a speedo to match. Any speed shop s

Consider having an instrument tech put modern innards into the existing case. I did this on my former Lotus Europa. Accurate. Stable. Looks original. I used APT in Bloomington Minnesota. 952-881-709

You are right. (When you say you may be wrong, that is)! The mechanical tach on a GT6 uses the same gear as any Spitfire mechanical tach. Joe Even if tachs ... you the == This list supported in part

Ok, I'm sure you're right Joe. But what is the ratio ? Does the tach cable turn at camshaft speed (2:1) like on the TR2-4 ? Randall == This list supported in part by The Vintage Triumph Register ==

Ok, that sounds right. Personally, I'd call that an "odd" ratio, but as usual opinions vary. I do think the OP will have a hard time finding an aftermarket mechanical tach with that ratio. Randall =

Exactly ! That was my original point, that it will be easier to find an electronic tach, than an aftermarket mechanical one that matches the tach drive ratio. Randall == This list supported in part

Or better yet have an instrument tech put electronic guts inside the present tach so you get modern performance with vintage looks. Phil Ethier West Side Saint Paul Minnesota USA 1962 TR4 CT2846L, 1
