- Could be the input shat bearings have gone big time, this seems to take the 3/4th gear syncro assembly with it, the syncro assemble is likely jammed up in there somewhere. I just finished reassembly

- Yes Tr7 where fitted with Borg Warner auto boxes type 65 to vin 402026 1980 and 66 thereafter not a popular option. I'm not sure about the 8 -- David Crabtree

- Yes, an automatic was available on the TR7. I even have a complete TR7 motor with slushbox attached laying around in one of my storage units. Maybe one day *someone* will want to buy it! mjb.
