Geo, I had to do this on my car last year. Not difficult. I would remove the distributor first... I think it will be easier to line things up. Although I never tried it your way... may be better. You

It's been a long time, but as I recall there is nowhere for the pump shaft to go. Even if it doesn't stay in the gear (mine didn't), it still stands up high enough that you can just slide the gear b
