- Thanks to those, who responded to my first posting As some of you guessed, the rubber coupling (between the shaft and the spiral gear, which throws the pinion into the flywheel ring gear) has failed.

- Yes, I have tried this fix. The result the starter works for a while but the bushes wear quickly and I have even broken an amature in one case. Since replacement couplings are available I would sug
