Hi Tom there is no lock washer on the steering wheel retaining nut, however the common practise during production seems to have been a centre pop or two. Effectively the nut is prevented from falling

I happened to pick up the nut from my Sports 6 last night, it has 3 distinct pop marks on the nut, right next to the threads. I'd think some blue Loctite would be in order on reassembly ... Randall

I do not recall a lock washer under mine but I think the shaft was peened in one spot to lock the nut. Maybe there is a better term for this, but I recall the rim of the shaft dimpled against the nut

Hi Tom, This weekend I pulled off the stock steering wheel on my '61 TR3A to paint it and replace the control head. There was no lockwasher under the nut. Good luck with the wiring games! Bill Stagg

I've not seen my aftermarket or stock Triumph steering wheels fitted w/any kind of safety provision on the shaft nut. I just torque it down, with thread locker. If there's room, there's not reason yo

I have never seen a lock washer on any steering wheel. Maybe I have lead a sheltered life. If you are worried that your wheel is going to come off in your hands, replace the nut with a NyLoc nut. Or
