You also need the idler and the bolt mounting is different. If you think it's a straight bolt on you're mistaken. Mike

The steering shaft, where it enters the universal joint is smaller on the late style. I got the shaft :). when I picked up a late style box. I am not sure if you can change universal joints as an alt
