New comp springs are different Gordon than the original numbers you are publishing. They are not made by nissan. I find them to be stiffer. Anybody else experiance this? Dean -- The New Yahoo! Search

It is doubtful that Nissan ever manufactured front springs for the roadsters. It is most likely that they were purchased from a supplier. The "NEW" springs were made in the USA by a company named Eib

The numbers I gave are the ones published in the latest Nissan Comp catalog. It's possible they haven't kept that info up to date. They may not be made by Nissan, but the part number hints that they

So a spring with a higher rate has a lower rate of deflection? That's confusing, but it would be confusing either way, i suppose ;-) /// datsun-roadsters@autox.team.net mailing list /// Archives at h

It would have a lower AMOUNT of deflection for a given load. The spring rate, normally stated in lb/in (pounds per inch) IS a rate of deflection. If you have a spring with a rate of 100 lb/in and you

The subject of the messages and the comments were only about spring rate and NOT anything extraneous like roll stiffness or effective wheel rate which only attempt to beg the real question. The same

So on the spring that deflects more (2 inches) the spring rate is lower than on the spring that deflects less? higher rate = less travel? Sounds backwards. I'm sure you're correct, but it just sounds

If you turn the rate around and state it as in/lb, it might be more easily understandable. Therefore a spring with a "spring rate" of 100 lb/in would be a .01 in/lb, stated in terms of how much the s

The higher the spring rate the less the spring deflects (less travel). That's why comp springs are shorter than stock. If they were the same length they would raise the ride height. Which leads me to
