It's probably the cable. Disconnect it from the back of the speedo and pull it out of the housing. If it comes out in two pieces or you find a kink in it, it's the cable. Gordon Glasgow Renton, WA He

Sounds like the cable may be loose. Check the connections before jumping to the worse case scenario. Calspeed
