While trolling around I found this link to a japanese tv program with a short clip on roadster. This is entirely in Japanese, and in a small real video format so is hard to see, but the cars do look

I don't think it's the sensor but a loose wire. Check the wire that goes into the gauge and the wire connected to the sender. 66 Mike BTW, I want the cars!!!!!!! Keep the girl!!!!!!!!

That's actually a pretty common mod in japan for most hi-po cars. There are kits out there to convert your car to a direct fire ignition system. I'm not sure exactly how the pre-manufactured kits do

Ah actually I think you are right. the ignition-only system is about 800 bucks or so I think? I guess it depends on the application (4, 6, or 8 banger). I do have a TEC2, but then again, I did buy it

Electromotive uses GM coils for their kits. I had the HPV-1 on my ex-240Z some 10 years ago. Works better than a distributor. HKS also had a similar system. Thomas in Sweden
