I doubt if 180 is too far off as there is a lot of surface area even if you think the nut is rather skinny. I have the factory tool for this nut and the Tommy Bar for it is about 2 feet long of whic

Check the torque on the piniuon nut it's 140 lbs. Information I have in a parts catalogue says 25lb which sounds on the low side but 180 seems on the high side. << Ron, I doubt if 180 is too far off

I know it is but the ring and pinion are notoriously hard on fasteners. Why would the axle nut need to be really high - the fronts aren't and the hub fit on the axle casing is tight anyway. The wheel

If you look up the torque requirements of the same nut on the MGB you will find that the tightening specs say 180 lb/ft. and it is the same thickness as the S/M nut. That is the closest application
