Generally, you take the doors off with the hinges attached to the doors. The body has a plate on the backside that is threaded for the screws. You must first remove the rivets that old the door stops

Those door hinge screws are locked in there pretty tight. In the early cars, they might be even tighter from rust. You might have to drill off the screw heads. Jan -- ______ ______ _______ / ____/ /

This is probably true on a great many cars that are rusty to begin with, but cars that are not, and the doors have never been removed, I was able to spray with liquid wrench, let sit overnight, then
